PILLARS BEATS NIGER UNITED TO CLINCH GOLD IN 1ST NATIONAL SAMUEL ORTOM HANDBALL COMPETITION

The 1st Samuel Ortom National handball competition came to a close yesterday with Kano Pillars defeating Niger united 28:23 to clinch Gold in the male category. Also Edo Queens were winners in the female category after gaining 10 points in the competition. Also Defender babes won Silver and Safety babes bronze respectively. For the male category, here is the list of outstanding players during the tournament. Aminu Adamu-Highest Goal Scorer. (KANO PILLARS) promising player and best Goalkeeper-Michael(KANO PILLARS) most Valueable player Aminu Ali(Niger united). And for the female category, Most valuable- Faith Imegbedion Highest Goal scorer Adaobi Okoro Promising player and best Goalkeeper Emmanuella Annih. Meanwhile, winners of the various categories will represent the country in Morroco this month for the African handball championship. In a related development, the Benue state government has promised to host the competition for the next three years. This was made known by the representative to the Governor and Hon. Commissioner for youths and Sports, Lawrence Onoja Jnr. "The Benue state government will as a matter of policy, promote sporting activities that will bring the state back on the map, he added. The competition was officiated by 20 referees and other officials of the handball federation of Nigeria.
