SOUTH AFRICA'S ECONOMY DROPS BEHIND NIGERIA AND EGYPT Once the largest economy on the continent, South Africa’s domestic and political issues have seen it fall to third place behind Nigeria and Egypt, KPMG has warned, using data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Even though South Africa remains the “continent’s most developed economy, and has a more diversified economic base than the Egyptian economy… its fall from first and now second place amongst the continent’s giants is of great concern,” KPMG Financial Risk Manager Christie Viljoen said, adding “especially as this development is largely attributed to weakness in the rand that, in turn, has largely been as a result of domestic issues”. “South Africa has been known as the continent’s second-largest economy since Nigeria rebased its gross domestic product (GDP) data in early 2014. However, the IMF World Economic Outlook (WEO) released in mid-April provided more sobering GDP statistics for South Af...

OGBADIBO 2016: WHY OLAOCHAGBAHA SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO PRODUCE THE NEXT CHAIRMAN.    Let me begin with the words of James Madison,''The accumulations of all powers o f the executve in the same hands, whether of a one, a few or many, and whether hereditary, self appointed may justly be pronouncement of the definition of tyranny. Ogbadibo was created in1991, with its headquarters in otukpa. It comprises of three districts namely otukpa, orokam owukpa respectively. The chairmanship positions had been consistently zoned between these three districts. The otukpa district is made up of three clans. The Ai-Ameh-Ochagbaha, Ai-Owuno and Ai-Oodo respectively. It is on record that since the inception of the local government, the Olaochagbaha clan had never occupied the office of the executive chairman. Whenever the said position is zoned to Otukpa, the office is either occupied by the Ai-Owuno or the Ai-Oodo. For over two decades now, the Olaochagbaha clan had b...
